Croxley Rail Link
20 February 2015
Hertfordshire County Council is encouraged by the continued discussion between the Department for Transport, London Underground and the scheme's partner organisations toward delivering the Croxley Rail Link.
Terry Douris, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: "We recognise that there is a high level of public interest in this scheme and we will keep the public informed about the rail link’s progress as discussions with the Department for Transport and London Underground continue. We hope that a mutually agreed approach can soon be found and we will continue to discuss the best way forward with the scheme’s partner organisations."
The Croxley Rail Link will provide significant benefits for Watford’s local economy as well as contributing toward the Mayor of London's growth aspirations.
Funding options for the Croxley Rail Link are due to be discussed at a Hertfordshire County Council Cabinet meeting on Monday 23 February.
Hertfordshire County Council, Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership, London Underground, Network Rail, Watford Borough Council and Three Rivers District Council are working in partnership to deliver the project.
Hertfordshire County Council was encouraged by the Department for Transport to take on and progress this railway scheme at a time in the 1990s when the railway industry, both in the public and private sector, was struggling. The county council has had significant success in getting the scheme to a stage where construction can start.
